Consumer Directed Healthcare

The momentum toward giving consumers more power and authority over their health care decisions and spending will continue. Are consumers really ready to exercise this power? Are consumers really seeking information to help them make better decisions about their health insurance coverage, treatment options, and cost of care? If we make the information available from a technology perspective will the consumer come to utilize it; or would it be better to have the government create a single payor/universal healthcare system on a national basis and we have ”one size fits all healthcare?” Thoughts?
