It very much concerns me to hear various groups talking about "Nationalized Healthcare." I know it looks appealing from the outside in that it appears to look more conventent, and less cost. But the money has to come from some where and it seems that many countries that offer Nationalized Healthcare now are trying to move away from it. A canadian in the healthcare industry told me that more and more private organizations are popping up to offer an alternative - because frankly the service for users is terrible. Many canadians cross the US border and pay full price to get better service in the US.

So if I was looking at National Healthcare vs. an HSA how would one benefit me over the other?

My lifes work has been in Healthcare. I have worked as a provider and an agent of the the payor. It is my opinion that the only effective healthcare system is consumer driven. Each of us must take responsibility for our own healthcare and that of our family. Any system that does not have the consumer as the active particpant and contributor is doomed to fail.
We have all witnessed the effectiveness of our government during Katrina, can you imagine the inefficiencies and corruption of a government managed universal healthcare system. I think not!
